The most well-known of Henry VIII’s wives, Anne was born around 1500 and spent much of her childhood in the service of the French Queen where she developed a taste for the clothing and art of that region. She returned to England in 1521 and went to court to attend Queen Catherine. It was here that she first caught the eye of King Henry VIII, who soon after began to seek annulment from his marriage to Catherine of Aragon.

Although this arrangement was not popular with the nobles, Anne was finally wed to the king in 1533 and gave birth to Princess Elizabeth (later Elizabeth I) six months later. After a couple of failed pregnancies by the queen and desperate to produce a male heir, Henry VIII began to turn his attention to Jane Seymour, one of Anne’s ladies-in-waiting.

Soon afterwards Anne, along with her brother and two other gentlemen, were arrested on false charges of adultery, incest, and treason. Her accused lovers were executed after being found guilty in a speedy trial. Anne was beheaded by an expert swordsman from France a few days later on May 19, 1536.

About the Mannequin

This beautiful rendition of Queen Anne Boleyn is a half-torso mannequin piece made of sturdy acrylic and is completely hand-painted. She wears a bodice of deep burgundy velveteen that is adorned around the collar with lace and hand-sewn acrylic pearls and goldtone filigree ornaments. Her long sleeves are accented with gold mesh lined with lace and gold and pearl acrylic beads. On her right hand she wears a ruby and amethyst acrylic ring.

Queen Anne wears a beautiful pearl and chain necklace based on the design in her famous portrait and created especially for her by After Dark Jewelry. (www.afterdarkjewelry.com)

The life-sized head is completely detachable and can be positioned in many different ways. She wears a matching burgundy velveteen headdress adorned with wide gold lace and acrylic pearls and a black satin veil over her auburn hair.

Anne’s injuries by sword decapitation are shown in great detail, with spinal bone, trachea, esophagus, and muscle tissue showing both on the torso and beneath her chin.

Her torso is mounted on a wooden base stand that bears her name. She is 23” tall with stand, and the base is approx. 21” wide and 12” deep. This piece weighs approx. 15 pounds.
